Occasionally it proves necessary to
remove crust and creosote deposit from the inside of the chimney, which
gathers up from burning solid fuel such as coal, peat
and wood. Although regular sweeping of the chimney helps to slow this build up, the sweeping brushes
are not designed to do the abrasive work of descaling equipment. Usually
every four to five years we would suggest this service replaces the regular
sweeping appointment. We are the first company in the UK to use such equipment, purchased
through a trade show in Denver Colorado. With the vast amount of wood burning
appliances in the province, we felt we needed to be able to deal with the
specialised service of removing these hard deposits. We would also suggest that the chimney be descaled
before the fitting of living flame gas fires, or oil appliances. If you don’t
plan to use a solid fuel appliance for prolonged periods of time, it is also
good practice to have the chimney thoroughly cleared of any debris. |
