We have included a
number of pictures of different types of chimney pot on the market. Some are
just conventional pots, but some are specialised pots to help alleviate
problems associated with fireplaces and appliances. A brief explanation of
each is included, but for further advice, by all means contact us. |
|
Conventional
pots are the most common.
They come in a range of sizes, and usually three colours; Red, Black and a
less common Buttermilk. |
|
Louvered
and Venetian pots have been
widely used to help reduce the risk of blow-downs. They are designed in such
a way so as to allow the breaths of wind that enter the pot, causing blow down, to escape out of the vents or
slats in the pot. They have been helpful in the past but in our opinion have
been surpassed by Marcone pots and H pots. |
|
The
Marcone pot is without doubt, one of the most successful pots on the market
today for helping with blow down
problems.
They are not 100% perfect , and tend to cause problems when the vent clogs up
with crust and creosote, which needs cleared periodically, but the best mid
price range solution. |
|
The
H pot is another alternative which is also recommended by the Coal Advisory
Service for the blow down problem. The very shape of the pot
explains how the wind cannot get into the flue run itself. If the wind
catches in the vertical drops, it is impossible for it to cross the
horizontal run of the H itself. |
